Its been a while, in a very long time since I had breathe a sigh of relief. Relief from the cares of the world, the fear, the restlessness, the anxious feeling. It’s been a while since I got excited getting up in the morning and face the world with a smile. It’s been a while since I have a good restful rest. And it feels like as if a heavy load has been lifted off my back.
It’s been a while since we had long walks in the park, feel the breeze and the summer winds. It’s been a while since we have leisure time as a family. It’s been a while since we have time for anything. I thought these days would never come.
There is a vast load of information in media nowadays regarding stress and it’s link to depression. We all had experience terrible days. Sometimes, we feel as if our days was a plot summary for the movie Lemony Snicket’s “A series of Unfortunate Events.” The fast paced life has all the modern conveniences it has to offer. It seems that we want to accomplish a lot with the least time. We have instant pot meals, instant messengers, quick fixes, life hacks, anything that can make our life more productive and easier. All information available at the tip of our fingers with just one click.
It seems that everyone on social media have accomplished lives. Living life to the fullest. Have the perfect successful career and children that excel in school. The dream house and the dream vacations. The more accomplishments I saw, painted a picture of what was lacking in my life. Not attaining the achievements that my peers is having is a failure, so I thought. But I learned that here will be always be someone that has more than what you have and there will always be somebody who has less than what you have. Comparison not only brings discontentment but it is “A thief of joy”-Roosevelt
I choose not to be a victim anymore. I choose to look at the positive side of life and appreciate the everyday stress. I choose to be motivated to accomplish small things. It doesn’t matter even if it is just jumping out of my bed to face the world.
